Tree Stewards of Arlington and Alexandria

Please join Tree Stewards in helping to free good native trees and shrubs from invasive Porcelain-berry in the meadow in Alexandria's Ben Brenman Park.

We particularly need help here because we need to get as many native trees and shrubs uncovered before the city’s contractors come and treat the Porcelainberry with herbicide (which introduces the risk of the native trees and shrubs underneath being poisoned).

We also may drive a couple of tree stakes next to good native trees and shrubs so as to mark them for protection the next time the city mows the meadow.

We will meet at 9:00 am at the Ben Brenman Park Soccer field parking lot:

Please note, however – if there is a soccer game that day, the soccer field parking lot may be full, in which case your best bet would be to drive down Somerville Street to the opposite side of the pond and park in the Farmer’s Market parking lot and walk back to the meet up location.

If you sign up for this event, I will email you maps showing the different parking lots in the park.

Lastly, that my phone # is 703-819-2653 if have any questions/get lost/etc...

I look forward to seeing you out in the park!
