Dominion HIlls (Arlington) Invasive Pull

Friday, July 17 2026

We're going to brave the heat so we can keep up with some essential maintenance tasks.  The uninvited plants love the heat and are thriving, so we can't turn our backs on them.  We do, however, have shady areas so you won't have to work in the sun.  Also, if you only want to work an abbreviated shift, you can bail whenever you need to.  The tree cages need clearing out, and if we don't get a decent rain before the weekend, we need to water the young trees.  We also need to seek and pull stiltgrass, mile-a-minute, wineberry, vines, etc. In spite of the heat, wear long pants, long sleeves, socks, and sturdy shoes to protect yourselves from poison ivy (we try to avoid but can't guarantee), thorny brush, and ticks.  A hat is recommended, too.  Bring water and your own gloves and hand tools if you have them.  If not, we will have gloves and tools to share.  We will also have poison ivy wipes, soap, and insect repellent. And most important, we'll have homemade goodies to snack on.  Meet at 1000 Patrick Henry Dr., Arlington.  Look for the "Volunteers" sign.  Plenty of parking along the street.
We'd appreciate it if you sign up in advance, but walk-ins are welcome, too.  We'll just be happy to have you either way!
Let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks and we hope to see you (even if you just want to work a short time due to the heat -- we'll understand).
