Tree Stewards of Arlington and Alexandria

Tree Steward Scott Knudsen and his wife Jennifer Pease organize this native plant sale, which is attended by multiple native plant vendors. Three to four volunteers are needed for each of two 3-hour shifts, assisting with set up, staffing information tables, running a plant-sitting area, and helping to clean up. The sale itself will run from 9am to 2pm on Saturday, April 25.

Location: Church of St. Clement at 1701 N. Quaker Lane, Alexandria, VA 22302. 

The vendors begin setting up around 6am, so there will be plenty of activity in the church parking lot by the time TS volunteers arrive. Volunteers should park on Crestwood, Oakcrest, Kenwood, or Dogwood or elsewhere in the neighborhood. (Please don't park in Christ the King Church's parking lot—we want to save it for customers. It will help if volunteers park farther away and walk to the site.)

Once volunteers arrive at the site, they should look for either Scott or his wife Jennifer. They will be wearing bright, reflective safety vests, so they should be easy to spot. Scott will be wearing orange and Jennifer will be wearing yellow.

For other Tree Stewards who are not volunteering, you can help the sale just by showing up and buying a few plants! You will find native perennials, shrubs, and trees for sun or shade. About ten vendors from Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania will be hosted this spring.

This marks the 23rd year we’ve been holding this twice-a-year event!
