RIP at Grandma’s Creek Park
Saturday, June 06 2026
Help get rid of the invasive plants in Grandma’s Creek Park, an arm of Glencarlyn Park that extends into the Barcroft neighborhood in South Arlington. This month, we will be meeting on the first Saturday, instead of the usual second. We will be off for the hot months of July and August, and will start again in September. Our work to remove invasive plants has moved to the west side of the park, where 6th St S--off of S Abingdon St--dead ends at the park. The address nearest to the park where we will meet is 4612 6th St S. Be sure to dress so wrists, legs, and ankles are covered to protect against poison ivy and ticks. Bring drinking water if you want it. The terrain is uneven, and there are lots of dead tree limbs and brambles, so sturdy shoes are important. We will have tools and lightweight gloves provided by Arlington County DPR, but please bring your favorites weeding tools if you have them. If you have any questions, please call or text Deborah Wood at 703 973-7424. I hope to see some of you there! Thank you
