Dominion HIlls (Arlington) Invasive Pull

Saturday, December 20 2025

Believe it or not, winter is actually a good time to save trees by attacking invasive plants. With a lot of things going dormant and dropping their leaves, it's possible to see the bad stuff, grab it, and put a hurtin' on it. Many of the invasives are still green in winter (honeysuckle vine comes to mind), and it's easier to distinguish the harmful, strangling vines from the good vines because you can see how they spiral around the tree trunks.

We think (hope) the weather will co-operate, but we'll be keeping a weather eye open. Walk-ins are welcome, but if you sign up in advance, we can notify you of any changes in plans.

Dress for the weather. Wear a hat and sturdy shoes, long pants, and long sleeves. Poison ivy and insects shouldn't be problems this time of year (especially after the cold temps we had over the weekend), but we will still have soap and our first-aid kit in case you get into something.

Bring water for yourself and gloves and hand tools if you have them. If not, we will have some to share.

Gather next to 1000 Patrick Henry Drive, Arlington. Look for the "Volunteers" sign.

There will be plenty of street parking.

We will provide light (homemade) snacks.

Questions? Don't hesitate to ask. Thank you in advance!!
