Trees grow in harsh environments worldwide. Understanding root behavior in extreme environments can help us see them better in the urban environment. We will focus on the individuality of trees, importance of conducting site assessments to understand the tree, and site conditions that could be modified for tree health. This will include an overview of Arlington County's Tree Conservation regulations, policy, and practices as they apply to different projects.
