Hands on Day

Hands on activities. We will need one volunteer to lead each activity. Usually there are up to three activities. The event coordinator will brief volunteers on how to conduct each activitiy. A large group from the Reston Community Center is scheduled to come during the day that will require 2-3 dedicated docents (please see "Docent/Other" below).

Demonstrate how freight cars were connected using the museum's full scale model.

Guide visitors through making a small scale model train layout

Also sign up for one other slot below. Responsible for the Museum's opening/closing checklists.

Responsible for Opening/Closing the Gift Shop and taking sales during open hours.

Hide and Seek
Grab a backpack. Look at the items inside and find the matching pieces in the station.

Docent/Other
Exhibit Interpretation and other assistance as needed. We will need 2-3 volunteers to guide a large group scheduled to visit. The event coordinator will brief volunteers on the group and suggestions on guiding them through the museum. Age will range from child to adult.
