NEA Big Read- Postcolonial Love Poem- AfA Discussion Meet Up

Tuesday, January 09 2024

The National Endowment for the Arts Big Read—a partnership with Arts Midwest—broadens our understanding of ourselves and our neighbors through the power of a shared reading experience. The goals of the NEA Big Read are to inspire meaningful conversations, celebrate local creativity, elevate a wide variety of voices and perspectives, and build stronger connections in each community.

Art from Ashes is excited to delve into and discuss as a community our region's book selection, Postcolonial Love Poem by Natalie Diaz. A finalist for the 2020 National Book Award for Poetry and winner of the 2021 American Book Award and Pulitzer Prize in Poetry, Postcolonial Love Poem is the “exquisite, electrifying” (Publisher’s Weekly) second collection from Mojave American poet, educator, MacArthur fellow, and language activist Natalie Diaz.

If you are interested in joining in on the reading and discussion there are books available at the office. Give Holly a call at 720-563-7534 and we can help coordinate connecting you with one. Join us as we meet for the second time on January 9th to discuss pages 27-55. Our final meeting will be on January 23rd, finishing the book with pages 55-94. The office is located at 1310 W. 10th Ave. Denver Co. 80204. We are encouraging in-person attendance but if you can't make it into the office and want to join virtually, you can do so through the Zoom link below. We look forward to seeing you there!
