RHA's Kestrel Party Event

Friday, September 25 2026

The smallest falcon in North America, the American Kestrel, is a threatened species. Its populations have plunged over the past 50 years due to habitat loss, a shortage of natural nesting cavities, and pesticide and herbicide use. Raritan Headwaters’ Kestrel Partnership Program brings together land trusts, private landowners, and public land managers to establish nest boxes throughout the Upper Raritan River region, using American Kestrels as a flagship species to conserve all wildlife associated with our open habitats. It supports the comeback of this beautiful little falcon and aligns with our broader efforts to protect and restore the watershed by influencing changes in land management, promoting no-till practices, and reducing the use of chemicals on farmland. Stewardship of working lands and open spaces benefits all wildlife and the health of the watershed.

Calling all volunteers ages 18+! Help is needed on Friday September 25th between 4:45pm-8pm as RHA hosts its Kestrel Party. All proceeds from this event will support our conservation mission to help protect the American Kestrel. Volunteers are needed to assist with parking at the venue: Vliettown Farm - 77 Vliettown Road in Oldwick. Thank you in advance for helping us with this important event!
