Grief 101: Understanding Loss and Supporting Healing

Tuesday, September 29 2026

Grief is a natural response to many types of loss, including death, divorce, illness, relocation, relationship changes, and other life transitions. This session will help participants understand common misconceptions about grief, explore healthy ways to navigate loss, and recognize that every grief journey is unique.

Drawing from Dr. Alan Wolfelt's Companioning Model, attendees will learn practical ways to support themselves and others through difficult seasons by offering presence, understanding, and hope rather than trying to "fix" the pain. The session will also explore the Six Needs of Mourning, the role of vulnerability in healing, and strategies for rebuilding life after loss.

Participants will have opportunities for reflection, discussion, and connection as they gain tools to navigate grief with greater understanding, compassion, and resilience.
