The SIYC Clambake is a highlight of the summer. Come join us for clams, mussels, lobster, or chicken & sausage with corn and potatoes, with s'mores and brownies for dessert! Music and dancing on the beach under the light of the moon promises plenty of fun for all. BYOBeverages. Be sure to get a babysitter for this one. Details to follow.
Help with set up, paper table cloths on tables, attach garbage bags to tables and other related tasks
Prep table buckets with napkins, flatware, lobster bibs, etc. Organize buffet table with serving supplies and make everything look charming and New England classic!
We need a member to pickup catering order including sides for the Chicken dinner + pies that have been pre-ordered and pre-paid from Stew Leonard's in Norwalk location and bring them to the island/beach area. Please coordinate with Nicole and Jen for additional catering order.
Set up dessert table with desserts, paper goods, utensils and pre-cut the pies.
Tap keg, clean out water dispenser in social locker and fill with water/ice, set up water table with dispenser and cups
Check in attendees and provide meal bracelets
Greet band at SIYC Parking garage; coordinate with Jeremie/Launch Crew with getting band and equipment from the parking garage area to island/beach area for set up; Direct band to set up area and coordinate with Jeremie on bringing power to set up area.
Similar to the 4th of July table decorating contest, we are hosting the first annual Clambake fashion competition. We are looking for two judges who will walk around before the dinner is served, and check out peoples outfits. We are hoping people get festive, have heard some of the ladies will be wearing lobster adorned dresses, and guys will be prepped out…should be fun!! This is a great way to socialize and meet other members!
Choose a few categories to judge outfits on - here are few suggestions 1) The most festive/outrageous/fun; 2) The most memorable and/or photographical; 3) Runner up/Honorable mention.
There will be some prizes for best dressed - prizes TBD from Sprite wear.
Help collect buckets, mason jars, tea lights, leftover paper goods
Decide on decor for tables and beach area; with other volunteers inventory decor and order any needed supplies; direct other volunteers on decor set up the day of
Check on decor inventory and order all supplies and paper products. This is done weeks in advance
Communicate with band to arrange their arrival on the Island and ensure launch availability to bring over band members and equipment. Connect the band with Jeremie and the Band Set Up volunteer in advance.
