Talk about Diwali in Art Class (5th grade)

Tuesday, October 25 2022

Marie-Helene, the school's Visual Art Specialist, is requesting help to introduce Diwali to the students.

To honor the celebration, grades 2-6 students will create clay diyas in art class that they will paint and decorate with bright colors and designs during the week of October 24th. Grades K-1 students will decorate store-bought diyas.

Marie-Helene is requesting that a parent comes to the Art Room to do a short presentation (10-15 minutes max).
Ideally, you would introduce Diwali to the students and explain the significance of the lamp. You would also discuss how your family celebrates this holiday. Please come and share what Diwali means to you and talk about any traditions you follow around this festival.

Please arrive to the school 5 minutes before the event starts - to give yourself time to check-in and get to the Art Room on time.

Note that the school will also celebrate other holidays and cultural festivals. Details on these will be sent at a later date.
