Wednesday, May 09 2018
Note: Purple Group is Brooke's Advisory; Blue Group is Sonia's Advisory - please sign up for the appropriate group for your child.
Part 1 (Blue and Purple Groups, 9:30-12:00) Students will tour the City of Mountain View's City Hall, including the City Manager's Office and The Mayor's Office. Students will also participate in a mock city council. On the tour, students will learn about how the City Council works and how Council meetings run. In participating in their own City Council, students will practice their public speaking skills through reading off a script in a presentation voice. Students will further their understanding of how leaders in our City Government are figures of authority put in place to help uphold justice. Their decisions affect many other community helpers in their city. Students will have lunch and play at Eagle Park.
Part 2: (Blue Group, 12:00-1:00) Students will also tour the Mountain View library and the Mountain View Center for the Performing arts and conduct interviews at these sites.
VOLUNTEERS SHOULD ARRIVE AT THE KLS LOBBY BY 9:15 am.
