Project Overview
This Eagle Scout Service Project, led by Braedyn Kreck of BSA Troop 531, focused on the enhancement of Erwin Park through the construction and installation of heavy-duty concrete trail benches. The project successfully replaced two hazardous, dilapidated benches and added two new installations to improve the safety and comfort of the trail system for the McKinney community.
Execution & Leadership
The project was executed over six days in February 2026 (Feb 13, 14, 15, 16, 21, and 22). Braedyn directed a diverse team of 14 volunteers, including 9 BSA Youth members and 5 adults. Under his leadership, the team utilized specialized forms and concrete casting techniques to produce durable, "bombproof" furniture designed to withstand high-use outdoor environments.
