Join Valley Streetz every Friday at MoPride Center in Modesto for our weekly Street Outreach event. Our team provides compassionate, community-centered support including harm reduction supplies, basic medical care, referrals to local resources, and peer support.
This outreach is designed to meet people where they are — offering nonjudgmental, trauma-informed care to our unhoused neighbors and anyone in need.

Policy
Valley Streetz depends on volunteers to maintain consistent, reliable outreach and support services. We understand that life happens and plans can change — however, timely communication is essential to ensure we can adjust staffing and continue serving our community safely and effectively.
Procedure
1. Notice of Cancellation
Volunteers must notify their Volunteer Coordinator as soon as possible if they are unable to attend a scheduled shift.
Whenever possible, please provide at least 24–48 hours’ notice before your scheduled volunteer time.
Notice should be given via text, or phone call.
2. Day-Of Cancellations or Emergencies
If an emergency or illness prevents attendance on the day of your shift, please notify the Volunteer Coordinator immediately by phone or text.
We ask that you communicate no later than one hour before your scheduled start time whenever possible.
3. No-Call / No-Show
Failure to notify staff of a cancellation will be documented as a no-call/no-show.
Two (2) no-call/no-shows may result in temporary suspension or removal from the volunteer schedule.
4. Frequent Cancellations
Repeated cancellations, even with notice, may lead to a review of the volunteer’s placement to ensure the role remains a good fit.
Volunteers are encouraged to communicate openly if their availability changes — we’re happy to adjust schedules or find alternate roles that better fit current capacity.
5. Rescheduling
Volunteers who cancel a shift are encouraged to reschedule for another available date or outreach event.
Updated schedules can be found through the Volunteer Coordinator or posted communications.
Commitment to Compassion
We value our volunteers and understand that circumstances change. This policy is not meant to penalize but to promote communication, accountability, and care — the same principles we extend to the communities we serve.
