APPLICATIONS ARE BEING ACCEPTED FOR THE 2017 HONORS ALTERNATIVE SPRING BREAK YOUTH REBUILDING NEW ORLEANS DEADLINE TO APPLY 4 P.M. JANUARY 20, 2017

Monday, January 16 2017

The Burnett Honors College's Office of Research and Community Engagement is accepting applications for the 2017 Alternative Spring Break trip to New Orleans March 12-18

An excellent opportunity to give back through community engagement and volunteerism. Students will fly to New Orleans on Sunday, March 12 and partner with Youth Rebuilding New Orleans to engage in the betterment of the New Orleans Community by helping to reduce blight by rebuilding distressed and foreclosed homes as a result of Hurricane Katrina and other environmental disasters that have touched the city. The renovated homes will be sold to teachers to stabilize neighborhoods and positively impact the education system.

In addition to the volunteer activities, students will have some free time to experience all that New Orleans has to offer including visiting the famous French Quarters. Only a limited number of applicants will be selected to participate. Interested students must meet the minimum qualifications as outlined on the application and submit all supporting documentation by the deadline as set by the application. If selected based on the application and supporting documents, students will be required to participate in an interview session with the Director of ORCE and the HERO Ambassadors. Final selections and notifications will occur no later than January 23, 2017. The application is attached to this announcement. If you have any questions about the trip or the application process, please contact Vanessa.mcrae@ucf.edu or 407-823-0847.
