Tree Basics Class: Restoring the American Chestnut (Zoom)

Tuesday, July 20 2021

‚ÄčTom Wild of the Charlottesville Area Tree Stewards presents a fascinating look at the rise and decline of the American Chestnut. Once dominant in the Appalachian region and vital for wildlife and humans alike, in the early 1900s the American Chestnut was struck with a blight and the species is now considered functionally extinct in the wild. Over the years numerous groups have made efforts to restore the tree to the wild. Tom will review the current techniques and progress being made. The event is free and open to the public and CATS members. Registration required to get Zoom link. Register here: https://forms.gle/wKQvdXY6ovTFDjAA7
