GUIDED FOREST THERAPY WALKS

Sunday, May 16 2021

Spring Events & Programs at CROSBY ARBORETUM!
We are pleased to announce the first two guided Forest Therapy sessions to be led by Nadine Phillips, INFTA-Certified Forest Therapy Guide in training (with two others coming soon). Throughout the time, you will be walking slowly and in quietness, and spend some time sitting. The activities offered will enable you to relax and calm down your busy mind so you can best receive the medicine of the forest. What is Forest Therapy? The practice translates literally from the Japanese Shinrin-yoku as “forest immersion”, an easeful and de-stressing natural practice which offers many health benefits to mind and body. This inviting way of immersing our senses in the atmosphere of the forest is backed by significant medical and scientific research – and the plethora of health benefits are wide-reaching. Forest Therapy is now considered a natural remedy to reduce stress and a pathway to a happier, healthier and more rewarding life. There will be 8 spaces available for each session. Call 601-799-2311 to sign up (pay on the day of your walk). These events will take place even in rainy weather. If it is necessary to cancel due to inclement weather, you will be notified the morning of the program by 8:30 a.m. Reservations are required. Members $10; non-members $15. Please note Covid-19 protocol is required in both indoor and outdoor Extension programs, with face coverings and social distancing.
