Bev Chase, moderator of NNC's book club, will begin this new adventure reading aloud extracts from Alexander von Humboldt's 1850 classic Views of Nature about awesome observations he recorded in travels to the New World, the Russian Urals, Europe, the Middle East, and Himalayas. Although you may not have heard of this early environmentalist, his writing influenced Darwin, Goethe, Thoreau, Wordsworth, Audubon, Muir, even Thomas Jefferson, and he's sure to impress you too.
