The Louisiana Iris Conservation Initiative (LICI) will hosting a volunteer iris planting event on Wednesday, January 20th, 2021 at the Cajun Coast Visitors & Convention Bureau's visitors center in Morgan City, Louisiana.

I. giganticaerulea species irises from the LICI iris rescue program will be used for this planting. The goal of the iris planting is to increase the number of irises that can be seen from the visitors center deck that circles the building.

This project will help achieve the LICI's goal of planting native irises at sites where they can be safely seen by the public as a educational tool. It will help the visitors center achieve their goal of showcasing this important native plant as one of the many things that the area has to offer to its visitors.

Long pants and regular rubber rain boots are needed for this event.

Wearing masks and social distancing will be done by the volunteers. There is a small number of volunteer spots available.
