Title – The Birds, the Bees, the Flowers and the Trees: Why Plants Matter for Wildlife Conservation in Human-dominated Landscapes

Presenter: Desiree L. Narango, Postdoctoral Researcher, University of Massachusetts, Amherst

Description: Dr. Desiree Narango will speak about her research studying plant-animal interactions and wildlife habitat in urban and suburban areas across the US. The talk will focus on some of her recent work looking at relationships between native plants, pollinators, and breeding birds and the effectiveness of wildlife-friendly gardening. She will also talk about specialized relationships between plants and insects, why insects matter to birds, and steps you can take to improve habitat for wildlife 'at home'.
